Ballet wrap knitted in Rowan kidsilk mohair

Free Pattern to fit Kish Chrysalis doll (also MSD or Ellowyne)

Ballet Wrap Cardigan to fit Kish Chrysalis 14", Ellowyne or slim MSD.

Abbreviations
k knit p purl
beg beginning sts stitches
S1 slip stitch, pass stitch from one needle to other without knitting it
inc 1 increase by knitting twice into same stitch
K2tog knit 2 stitches together
S1,K1,PSSO slip 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, then pass the slip stitch over the stitch you knitted
K1,P1 rib knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch to the end of row
St.st stocking stitch, alternating rows of knit and purl

You will require 2 ply yarn, think this is US laceweight?. Note that the different yarns will alter the size very slightly.
My tension was 13 sts to the inch and 18 rows to the inch.
1 Pair each of size 0000 (UK 18) and 000 (UK 16) knitting needles, and safety pins (stitch holders).

Back
Using size 0000 (UK 18) needles cast on 50 sts.
Work 10 rows K1, P1 rib.
Change to 000 (UK16) needles and st.st for 10 rows.
* Inc 1 st at each end of next row.
Starting with a purl row work 9 more rows of st.st.
Repeat from * once more.
Shape armholes
Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Row 1 K2, K1, S1, PSSO, knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.
Row 2 K3, purl to last 3 sts, K3.
Repeat these 2 rows until 20 sts remain ending with a purl row.
Bind (cast) off.

Sleeves (make 2)
Using size 0000 (UK 18) needles cast on 30 sts.
Work 10 rows K1, P1 rib.
Change to 000 (UK 16) needles and st.st for 6 rows.
* Inc 1 st at each end of next row.
Starting with a purl row work 5 more rows st.st.
Repeat from * 6 more times (44 sts).
Shape armholes
Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Row 1 K2, K1,S1,PSSO, knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.
Row 2 K3, purl to last 3 sts, K3.
Repeat these 2 rows until 10 sts remain ending with a purl row.
Bind (cast) off.

Right Front
Using size 0000 (UK 18) needles cast on 46 sts.
Work 10 rows K1, P1 rib.
Change to size 000 (UK 16).
Row 1 K3, S1,K1,PSSO, knit to end.
Row 2 Purl to last 4 sts, K 4.
Repeat these 2 rows 4 times more.
*Next row K3, S1,K1,PSSO, knit to end inc in last st.
Work row 2**
Now work rows 1 and 2, 4 times more.
Repeat from * to ** once and then work rows 1 and 2 , 3 times more
Work row 1 once.
Shape Armholes
Cast off 3 sts, purl to last 4 sts, K4.
Row 1 K3, S1,K1,PSSO, knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.
Row 2 K3, purl to last 4 sts, K4.
Repeat these 2 rows until 9 sts remain ending with a purl row.
K3, S1,K1,PSSO,K2tog,K2.
Knit 1 row.
K3, S1,K1,PSSO,K2.
Knit 1 row.
K3, S1,K1,PSSO, K1
Knit 1 row.
K3, S1,K1,PSSO.
Continue every row knit until ribbing is long enough to reach across the top of the sleeve and to the middle of the back neck.
Cast off.




Left Front
Using size 0000 (UK 18) needles cast on 46 sts.
Work 10 rows K1, P1 rib.
Change to size 000 (UK 16).
Row 1 Knit to last 5 sts, K2tog, K3.
Row 2 K4, purl to end.
Repeat these 2 rows 4 times more.
*Next row Inc in first st , knit to last 5 sts, K2tog, K3.
Work row 2.
Now work rows 1 and 2, 4 times more.
Repeat from * once more.
Cast off 3 sts, Knit to last 5 sts, K2tog, K3.
K4, purl to end of row.
Shape Armholes
Row 1 K2, S1,K1,PSSO, knit to last 5 sts, K2tog, K3.
Row 2 K4, purl to last 3 sts, K3.
Repeat these 2 rows until 9 sts remain ending with a purl row.
K2, S1,K1,PSSO, K2tog,K3
Knit one row.
K2, S1,K1,PSSO, K3.
Knit one row.
K2, S1,K1,PSSO,K2.
Knit one row.
K2, S1,K1,PSSO, K1.
Knit one row.
K2, S1,K1,PSSO.
Continue every row knit until ribbing is long enough to reach across the top of the sleeve and to the middle of the back neck.
Cast off.

Ties (make 2)
Using 0000 (UK 18) needles cast on 5 sts.
S1, K4.
Repeat to desired length (7”? – I work 198 rows).

Making up
Join sleeves to fronts and back using an over-stitch.
Neatly join the two ends of ribbing together.
Continue to use over-stitch and attach the strap across the top of the sleeve, back and other sleeve top.
Now on one side stitch from rib on sleeve to rib on body of wrap using a back stitch (except for ribs where I prefer over-stitch).
Repeat the other side the same remembering to leave a hole at top half of body rib (to thread your tie through).
Sew ties to top half of rib at front edges.


Congratulations, now all you have to do is dress your doll in her lovely warm, delicate ballet wrap cardigan.
